A day or two ago I heard of twtxt for the first time. If you never heard of it, that’s not surprising.
Twtxt (“tweet text”) is a decentralised, minimalist microblogging service. And in my opinion the idea is brilliant in its simplicity. It works by simply writing lines with a special format into a publicly reachable text file. To register on a server you simply send a URL of that text file and your desired nick name.
Besides simple posting, the format supports tags, mentions and with them conversations. The circle of twtxters is rather small but if you think it’s for you, check out github.com/mdom/we-are-twtxt and my freshly started file at koehr.in/twtxt.txt
