Boring humanz! Always work!
Long time that I didn’t have my dog in a picture. That’s not because I don’t like taking pictures of her. It’s the other way around. She doesn’t like it when I get out the camera. 🤷♂️
I started diving into my work setup again and wanted to fix a few things with my window manager. And I realized that there is so much more I could do with it. That’s the typical moment of me entering a rabbit hole: #windowmanager
I use dwm, an extremely minimalist window manager that happens to do almost exactly what I want out of the box. If you don’t know what a window manager is, this topic might be either too technical for you or it might be the start of your own story of diving head forward into a rabbit whole. Just look it up. But don’t go with dwm before you know what you’re doing. I suggest i3 for starters. It’s highly inspired by wmii and dwm which are both coming from the same group of people. You’ll find more about those people on suckless.org and more about i3 and window managers on i3wm.org.
Now I started patching dwm for my needs but maybe I simply go deeper and try another wm called Penrose, which is written as a #rustlang library. So I basically would have to write my own wm in Rust, using this library for the nitty-gritty details. Sounds exciting!
